Rugby

For 4 weeks, we did tag rugby with Gareth. We did lots of games and drills. There were four different teams each week. Two played against each other while the others watched and supported. There were pink and yellow tags and a Velcro belt that you stuck the tags on. We had lots of fun and it was very enjoyable. Here are some pictures:

Soccer

Mr. Mansfield set up soccer teams for boys and girls. There was a lot of boys who wanted to be on the team so Mr Mansfield chose a team of eight. Only eight girls volunteered so it was perfect.

We did training every Friday and practised dribbling, striking and corners.

Mr Mansfield entered both boys and girls into a competition in Leixlip. We both had four games each. The boys drew two and lost two so they didn’t get through to the next round. The girls won four and drew one so they got into the final and they won that 1-0 so they were put through to the next round in Kilcullen. They played three matches in this round but unfortunately they lost. Well done girls!

Cross country running

We competed in  the County Cross Country race again this year. Everyone ran very well but unfortunately we didn’t win the competition. Here is a picture from the start of the heat in Ardclough.

Basketball

Ms. Manley entered a boys team and a girls team into basketball blitzes in March and April. She did training on various days in the hall and on the basketball yard. It was the first time Ardclough had a school basketball team. Unfortunately we didn’t win either of the competitions but it was great fun. Below is a picture of the girls team.

10@10

On 10th February, the school was involved in Operation Transformation’s 10@10. As part of the programme, every school in the country was asked to do 10 minutes exercise to get everybody active. Sixth class organised the activities for each class to do for the ten minutes. We kept everybody moving for the 1o minutes and then did our own exercise after. It was great fun. Here are some pictures of the event.
