The hospital

People go to the hospital if they are ill or if they need to have a baby. Doctors and nurses work in the hospital. They are very nice people who work hard to make us feel better when we are not well. We learned about Peter Mc Verry Trust and decided to make some lovely Christmas cards for homeless children. We also decided to collect some presents for them. Pat Doyle, from Peter McVerry Trust came to visit us and collect all we had gathered for the homeless people. Clothes

Last month, our Aistear theme was clothes. We had great fun buying clothes and returning clothes in our lovely clothes shop.   We learned some clothes vocabulary. We filled out clothes order form. Senior infant autumn activities

For Hallowe'en, we made some lovely chocolate apples. First, we melted some chocolate in a bowl. Then, we dipped our apples into the bowl. After that, we put sprinkles on them. Spring animals

In spring, we had some little baby chick eggs in the school. They were kept in an incubator. Ms Killeen told us that we were due to hatch in 21 days or three weeks. We saw them rattling around in their eggs before they hatched. Some of them hatched before the others. We all thought they were extremely CUTE! They liked to chirp and walk around and peck on weetabix. We had some little lambs visit the school also.

People who help us – Our parents came to visit us and tell us about the work they do.

We were learning about jobs people do. We were very lucky to have some of our parents in to explain about the work they do. We had Séamus, the pharmacist. Séamus helps people by giving them the medicines and treatments they need when they are sick. Séamus showed us inhalers, vitamins and creams.   We had three nurses visit us also. Lá Glas

First class enjoyed a lot of our coicís na Gaeilge activities. We learned about Clann Lir and St. Patrick in history. We made shamrock men and women. An author came to visit

Our class were very lucky to have a special visitor in our classroom. Caroline Finnerty, author of The Last Goodbye and My Sister's Child. Caroline popped in to tell us all about how she manages to write books. She spoke about her ideas for her books and of the very long process and time involved in writing a book.
