Christmas 23 Newsletter

Dear parents and Students,

We have had a wonderful lead-in to Christmas this year, from singing to artwork, from donations to charity to class competitions.

Classes have created some beautiful art work across the school and it certainly has put us in the Christmas mood.

Some classes have visited the crib in the church; others have come to view the School Crib and say a Christmas Prayer.

Our Advent Calendar was made by children around the school and each day we counted the number of days left to Christmas. Thanks to all the children who made this possible.

Well done to all in Ms Malone’s Junior Infants who performed lovely poems, amhráin as Gaeilge and carols for parents on Tuesday last. They were stars!

The Senior Infants also performed some beautiful carols, accompanied with homemade instruments and some poems for Christmas time.

  • Videos will be uploaded to the School Website shortly for you to view

Well done to all of Ms Cassells 5th class who gave a wonderful performance of ‘Lights, Camels, Action’ and received a standing ovation. It was brilliantly performed, giving the audience a great laugh and brought great Christmas spirit to everyone.

We had our Christmas Door Competition too which provided great excitement in the planning and execution of the designs. Mr O’Leary’s 4th class came out winners (all the students voted for their favourites)

One of the highlights of our preparation was the Carol Service in the church. WE reflected on the meaning of Christmas, listening to the story of the Nativity, and celebrated by singing carols. Each class performed some carols and poems and the choir sang some lovely pieces too.

(thanks to Zane, parent, for her donation of the arrangement)

The students involved in the Small Group Violin project played beautiful Christmas pieces for us and accompanied some classes and singers too. They have really progressed this term and are working to a high standard with Maria. I look forward to hearing them again the New Year and I hope many of them will be performing for the families this Christmas.

The videos of each class performance will be available on the website shortly.

Many thanks to all who supported our charity events this term, from the Christmas Jumper Day, to Jersey Day and this  weeks’ Christmas Box Appeal. We had many shoebox presents to pass on to Chris today and I hope they bring joy to many families over the Christmas.

Thank you- Your kindness and generosity always comes to the fore!

Thanks to everyone who is part of the St Anne’s Community. Huge thanks to Phil, our caretaker and to Nora, our secretary, both of whom keep the school running, in so many ways.

To our wonderful teachers, who give so much of their time to support and encourage the children; to the SNA’s, who work tirelessly in the support of the children. You are all an inspiration!

TO the PSG, I say, thank you. Your support of all that goes on here helps build a wonderful community and makes so many events happen.

To you, the parents, I wish to thank you for your co-operation and support. Your children bring much joy and energy to us and always help us learn and reflect.

May I wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas. I hope you enjoy family time over the break and that 2024 bring you health and happiness

M Manley
