This week saw many events taking place in St Anne’s.
On March 15th, we celebrated Proclamation Day in the school. The event was opened by the children of 5th class who played some tunes on tin whistles. The story of the Rising was read by 2nd class students and children from 6th class read the Proclamation. We reflected on the bravery and courage of our ancestors, of how they ‘dared to dream’ and the pride that they took in their language and their country- all lessons that we take forward into the future. The words of Patrick Pearse were recalled and his references to fuelling imagination and curiosity can act as a guide for all involved in education. The indoor event culminated with the reading of the St Anne’s Proclamation for a New Generation- ideas gathered from the children in each class and collated by Mr O’ Leary’s class. Finally the flag was raised outdoors and all sang the National Anthem. Well done to all who took part!
March 16th was Lá Glas at St Anne’s. Children and staff dressed in green and paraded around the school. They also brought green food for lunch. Have a look at the gallery for some interesting photos of the event!
