Congratulations:
I am extremely proud of all who represented St Anne’s at the weekend. To our quiz team who took 3rd place in Naas on Friday night – well done!. Also to the boys and girls from Ms Mc Evoy’s and Mrs Kelly’s class who performed as part of the Dublin Peace Proms on Sunday night in the RDS. What a show! It was a wonderful event and we were all so delighted with the work that you put into getting ready for the performance and for your focused performance throughout. Stars in the making!! Sincerest thanks to both teachers for their vision in taking part in this and for the work they put into getting it all ready.
Clubs and Events:
Well done to all who participated in the recent Talent Show finals from 1st and 3rd classes. Thanks to the committee from 3rd who organised the event. It is wonderful to see so many great singers and performers in St Anne’s
Our lego club is continuing every week thanks to the boys in 4th who forge ahead organising different competitions and tasks for all taking part. There is great creativity and invention on display after just a short time so well done all.
Sixth class continue to organise the Wednesday lunchtime clubs; new clubs have been developed this term which are proving very popular
Our chess club, organised by 4th and 5th class students is also continuing. We hope that those involved will be making a trip to a second level school soon to show their talent!
This week sees the start of the Go Music event- more to follow on this!
Buddies and Friends:
I want to thank all in 6th class for their continued support of the younger children in the school. Also to everyone who takes part in the Yard Angels programme. You make a great difference. We hope to have a buddy bench arriving to the school soon and we will update you on plans for that shortly
Well done to the boys in Ms Sheehy’s class and their buddies from 6th who are having great fun playing together at break times.
Sport:
We welcome Leon, GAA hurling coach, to St Anne’s. Leon is taking over from Jason who was with us last term. Classes are arranged for the rest of the year, some Monday and some Thursdays and teachers will let you know if there are changes to the PE timetable.
Mr O Leary has started the lunchtime Basketball league- watch this space for results and performances to come!
Catholic Schools Week
Thanks to all the grandparents who visited the school last week. It is a pleasure to welcome you to St Anne’s and to hear about your school days
Some Reminders:
A reminder that children should have coats with them each day for the yard. While today was a milder day the recent weather has been cold so we urge all to bring adequate clothing with them each day.
Children are also welcome to bring in their own towel (facecloth) should they wish to use these in class rather than the school ones.
The meeting for parents of children in 5th and 6th classes on RSE will go ahead this Thursday at 7pm in the hall.
Midterm closing- Feb 21st and 22nd.
Sympathies:
Finally we express our deepest sympathies to the Courtney Cross family on the death of Cody, a past pupil of St Anne’s. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad time. May he rest in peace
