5th Class P.E.

By: Emma, Aurimas, Matthew, Luke & Alexandra

In P.E. this year we have been learning a lot about our Fundamental Movement Skills. FMS are all our movements that are really important to us when we play sport. (Running, jumping, landing, sidestepping, catching, striking etc.

In October and November we focused on running. We recorded our partner running using our iPads to assess their technique. We uploaded the videos to seesaw for Mr. Roughan to look at. After this we discussed how to run properly and what way all our body parts should be moving. Mr. Roughan showed us our video and told us if we needed to make changes to our technique. We then went to the Halla again to work on our running technique. We had a poster up to help us remember all of the important points in running. Next month’s skill is landing.

Since week 1 we have been working on our fitness. Our teacher sets a timer and we have to run without stopping for this time. We started at 1 minute and we are trying to get up to 5 minutes. Its really fun because Mr. Roughan plays songs on his speaker to help us run faster. We also do active homework each night which helps us to stay fit and healthy. It’s the best part of homework.

Our favourite game in P.E. so far this year was Crab Soccer. We were only allowed to walk as a crab and we had to score with our feet. If you kicked the ball without walking like a crab then it was a free. At first it was really hard but we got better at it. It makes your hands and feet very strong. We really enjoyed doing our P.E this year.

We have played lots of other fun games in P.E. this year such as:
• Basketball

• Hurling
• Stations
• Bench ball
• Volleyball
• Soccer
• Uni-Hoc
