Painting like Michelangelo

As part of our history lesson on the Renaissance, we learned about Michelangelo. He was a very famous painter and sculptor who created some of the greatest artworks ever. One of his most famous paintings was the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. To complete this work, he had to lie on his back on scaffolding and paint directly over his face. This was very difficult and would have caused a lot of problems for Michelangelo.

To try to imagine how tough Michelangelo had it, we decided to try painting over our heads. We tied paper to the underside of our desks and then we lay on the ground underneath our desks and painted over our faces.

                   

It was indeed very hard and a lot of paint ended up on our faces! But we kept trying and eventually we managed to create some nice pieces which you can see below.
