December 2020
This year, because of Coronavirus, we couldn’t do our usual big Christmas production so we decided to make a video within our bubble (class). We used a Green-Screen, a Boom box and a microphone to record our version of the 1984 song "Do They Know Its Christmas?"
We auditioned for the video on See-Saw. Everyone in our class was given either a singing or non-singing role. Everyone also brought in 80’s style clothes for filming.
It took...

Painting like Michelangelo 2020
by Ailbhe, Katie, Max & Keelan
November 2020
One Friday afternoon, we were all given an A3 sheet of paper and bluetack. We had to stick the page to the bottom of our desks. The idea was to see what it would have been like for Michelangelo when he painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel while lying on his back looking up at the ceiling. We had been studying the Renaissance in history and this lesson linked to that.
We all got paint and started painting under our desk. It ...

November 2020
We started a dance class on Wednesdays in November for five weeks.
For the first few weeks, we learned to dance to the song "Level Up" by Ciara. It was really fun but was very tiring! The second dance we did was "Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer. We did that for two weeks and it was extremely hard but great fun.
After ever session we played a game where there was a person on and they had to turn against ...

February and March were very busy months for the Sixth Class children. Over the course of a few short weeks, children from sixth class represented the school at the Credit Union Table Quiz in Naas, a Soccer Blitz in Leixlip, a Basketball Blitz in Newbridge and a Spelling Bee in Kildare. We performed very well in each of these competitions, particularly the soccer blitz where we lost the final in a penalty shootout. The basketball blitz for the girls was meant to b...

Local Area Maps
by Sixth Class
February 2020
In February we spent time looking at Ordnance Survey maps in Geography. We learned about grid references, scales and what various symbols meant on a map. As part of an Art lesson, we created our own local area maps.
First we got into groups and went online to locate each of our houses. We then printed out a map that included each house, before dividing the map into square boxes. We got large sheets of paper and drew bigger boxes so we could scale up th...
